CORNEILLE (Pierre).
The Royal Square, or the Extravagant Lover. Comédie. Paris, Augustin Courbé, 1637. In-4, red morocco, double gilt fillet, ornate spine, inner lace, gilt edges (Devauchelle). First edition. According to Picot, the first performance of this comedy should be placed in 1634. Corneille, by taking for the title of his play the name of the Place where the beau monde met at that time, wanted to exploit the success he had obtained with La Galerie du Palais (cf. Picot, n°6). A washed copy, perfectly bound (h: 222 mm). Small paper restoration in the margin of the last leaves.
