"The Englishman described in the closed castle inspired Hans Bellmer to create a suite of seven burin and diamond-point engravings which are among the most beautiful known by him and which should have illustrated a deluxe edition of the first edition (...) Almost fifteen years later, in 1967, these engravings were published with a text by Bellmer. It is easy to recognize various characters and scenes from The Englishman. (André Pieyre de Mandiargues, Preface to the first N.R.F. edition of L'Anglais, 1979, pp. 14-15). Perfect condition.
