First edition printed in a small number, with 4 large folding plates representing Nouméa and New Caledonian landscapes from the author's drawings. Louise Michel, a figure of the Commune, was sentenced to deportation to New Caledonia. It is during her seven years in prison that she collected the legends of the Canaque people. Nice copy, well bound, of this rare book.
