Bust Evhé Amedzoto Southeast Togo, Evhé-Ouatchi region Wood, sacrificial material, cowries H. 79 cm Important large sculpture representing a tutelary ancestor called amedzoto. The spherical head is entirely covered with a black sacrificial patina, showing cracks and traces of spillage in places. The face, inscribed in a flat spot, is dominated by a pair of eyes represented by huge cowries. The nose is straight, in slight relief, the mouth absent. The C-shaped ears appear on either side of the head. The cylinder-shaped bust with a rough appearance was originally concealed by cloth. See Parodi da Passano G., 2004.
