Pierre Belon, a great French scientist of the 16th century, traveled to the Levant in 1547-1548 and published on his return the account of his journey which took him to Constantinople, Egypt, Syria and other regions of Asia Minor. The original edition appeared in 1553. A fine copy in an antique binding, complete with the often missing map. From the libraries of Mark Mastermann Sykes and Henri Thuile, with bookplates.
