ROUSSEAU Jean-Jacques (1712-1778).
Autograph manuscript (s.l.n.d.). 4 pp. in-4. Manuscript entitled "Testament Politique du Cãl de Richelieu p.8" with precisions "Edition d'Amsterdam 1688. 12.". This working manuscript is written on a half page, leaving the left margin for annotations. Rousseau did not only copy the "Testament politique du Cardinal de Richelieu" but also commented on it. These notes and this commentary will serve as a lesson for Madame Dupin. The text copied by Rousseau ends at the beginning of page 3 and deals with the relationship between the Queen Mother and the King " (...) it is an extreme consolation to me that one has often heard from the mouth of your Majesty that when I was thinking most of the greatness of the Queen his mother, she was working for my ruin (...) ". Then comes Rousseau's commentary: "Everyone knows that, in spite of what is alleged here, and the protestations of the desire for the union of the King and the Queen, the Queen had retained a great deal of authority with which she had even favored Cael de Richelieu, and that this Minister lost her in the mind of her son, as well as all those who were attached to him, wanting neither superiors nor rivals nor companions in the mind of his master (....) One finds in all the histories the various disgraces that the Queen suffered, and the calamities that accompanied the end of her life (...) ".
