Born in Lannion in 1822, died in 1892, François Jean Marie Laouënan studied at the minor seminary of Plouguernével and at that of Tréguier, then spent a year at the major seminary of Saint-Brieuc before entering the seminary of M.-E. as a layman in September 1843. He was also Archbishop of Pondicherry.
