BOULLIER (Eugène)
Autograph literary manuscripts. [Laval, 1810-1813]. Set of 12 manuscripts, large in-8 and in-folio, in a modern cardboard box-sleeve. Interesting literary manuscripts of a 19th century Laval personality. Born in Ernée (Mayenne) in 1787 and died in Laval in 1857, Eugène Boullier enlisted at the end of the Hundred Days, took command of the town of Sainte-Suzanne and obtained its surrender and the disarmament of its inhabitants. After having been part of the administration of the city of Laval, he devoted himself to the study of botany and geology. He collaborated in the catalogue of plants growing in the department of Mayenne (1838), contributed to the formation of the herbarium which was deposited in the science museum of the city, and published a memoir on a species of fossil reported in the region. These manuscripts total about 240 pages. They are mostly plays of his own composition, apparently unpublished: Le Sorcier par hazard, Le Revenant, Le Procès ou l'injuste préférence, M. de La Michaudière, La Diligence de Nevers, Le Malencontreux, etc. These were performed in Laval "en société", by members of the family and its entourage, during private performances. The names of the actors appear on each play: Rosalie Laporte, Aimé Leclerc, Fanny Bigot Mlle Caroline Foucher, Artemise Boullier, Cécile Guitet, Louise Foucher, etc. Repeated stamp Cabinet of M. le comte Chappaz du Prat.
