POISSONNIER (Pierre-Isaac)
Speech delivered at the Public Session held on the 8th of May 1759, by the Imperial Academy of Sciences, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Coronation of His Imperial Majesty. Printed in St. Petersburg, s.d. [1759]. Booklet in-4 of 24 pages, stapled, gilt and painted paper cover (Binding of the time). First edition. Rare St. Petersburg printing. Poissonnier, French military physician born in Dijon in 1720, died in Paris in 1798, was a member of the most eminent scientific societies. For his first literary tribute, he submits, not without having previously praised Peter the Great and the progress of science under his reign, some reflections on the means of preserving health in the countries of Northern Europe and particularly in Russia: his recommendations concern the air of the houses, diet and physical exercise.
