Lamarck
- BOTANICS. Collection of 29 18th century engravings, 27 of which depicting exotic plants and their fruits (cocoa, mangosteen, papaya, Arabian jasmine, etc.), one engraving depicting an armadillo and another showing the doors of the temple of Balbeck. In-8, stiff vellum, red edges (Binding of the second half of the 18th century). Collection probably compiled and annotated by the naturalist Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck (1744-1829), as indicated by this handwritten note on a cover: This collection of I don't know what plates is only curious by the handwritten names which are in Lamarck's hand. It was given to me by this famous botanist [signature of Drapiez]. Dry stamp of Pierre-Auguste Joseph Drapiez (17778-1856), Belgian naturalist to whom we owe a beautiful work on plants, the Sertum botanicum (1828-1832). Handwritten bookplate in purple ink from the 19th century: Leleux. Most of the plates come from an in-12 edition of Gemelli Careri's Voyage du tour du monde; they were cut to size and mounted on strong paper.
