In-12, marbled calf, cold fillet, smooth spine decorated, red title, marbled edges (Binding of the time). Peignot, Livres condamnés au feu, t. I, p. 48, and t. II, p. 213. First edition of this French translation, given by Abbé Louis-Valentin de Vougny, canon of Notre-Dame de Paris, counsellor to the Parliament and bibliophile. It is also the first publication in French of a text by Giordano Bruno. This is only a translation of the first part of the first dialogue of the Spaccio della besta trionfante, a treatise on moral philosophy published in London in 1584. 2 allegorical copper-engraved vignettes by Aveline, one adorning the title.
