PINHAT (François)
Traicté particulier de la Médecine tiré de plusieurs autheurs et dressé par François Pinhat, apoticaire du Pont de Ciron. Inceptus anno domini 1653. [At the end]: Finis habet Laudem Massa coronat opus. Pinhat, pharmacopeus albiensi Diocesi. Manuscript in-4, about 100 leaves, soft vellum (17th century binding). French pharmacy manuscript written by a 17th century apothecary. Description of pharmacy, plants, gums, metals and minerals, precious stones, drugs, anatomy, treatise on fevers, etc. The manuscript ends with this formula and is signed at the end: Finis Habet Laudam Massa Coronat Opus... Pharmacopeus Albiensi. Originally from Albi, François Pinhat was an apothecary at the Pont de Ciron in the Tarn, then at Rodez. The Archives of Aveyron keep the proof that in 1675 he had hired in Rodez an apprentice named Antoine Molenat, native of Saint-Panthem (Aveyron). The title page is decorated with two old portraits engraved on copper, glued, of François de Sales and of the R.P. Claude Bernard. Angular mottling on the whole manuscript, crumpled vellum.
