Bertrand de Salignac (1523-1599), diplomat, "distinguished officer in peace and in war", had made a name for himself at the siege of Metz in 1552, of which he left a report. In 1554, he accompanied King Henry II in the war of the Netherlands and gave an account of the operations of the campaign in these 4 letters addressed to the Cardinal of Ferrara. Typographical mark with an olive tree on the title.
