COLLECTION of ordinances, edicts, letters-patents, descry rendered by the kings Charles IX and Henry III on the trade of silks, cloths, gold and reiglement of the workers in gold and silk cloths, from 1563 to 1609. 8 pieces in one volume in-8 of (8) ff, (4) ff; (24) ff; 23 pp; 20 pp; 22 pp and (1) blank ff; (4) ff: lavaliere morocco, coat of arms of France gilt in the centre of the boards, spine decorated with a repeated fleur-de-lis, inner lace, edges gilt on marble (Thibaron-Echaubard). Important collection of seven ordinances on silks, workers in gold, silver and silk sheets, and other textile corporations, published between 1563 and 1609. Opening with a title page written in red and black pen, it is composed as follows: - Ordonnance du Roy sur le taux et imposition des soyes entrants dans son Royaume, oultre toute autre gabelle cy devant ordonnée. Old marginal annotations pp. 6-7 erased. - Letters of the King, by which is allowed to the seneschal of Lyon, and people holding the Presidial seat, to proceed in last resort against the workers of gold, silver & silk cloths, which are made in this city of Lyon, &c. if they are convinced of larceny of the said fabrics. A 1566 ordinance illustrated with 46 woodcuts of coins is bound at the end: Descry des Angelotz, ducats à la Marionnette, Escus de Portugal, Iocondalles d'Allemaigne, Philippus d'argent, & escus nouvellement forgez à Cambray. Paris, Pour Jean Dallier, 1566. (8) ff. All these ordinances on cloth are of the greatest rarity, the three printed by Robert II Estienne, for example, escaped Renouard. A handwritten table leaf, with the price in livres tournois of each of the plates, ends the volume. A fine volume from the library of the Lyonnais Étienne-Marie Bancel, with bookplate (1882, no. 55).
