Large in-8, aubergine chagrin, rocaille frame drawn by gilt irons on the boards, smooth spine decorated, gilt edges (period binding). First printing of the illustration by Tony Johannot, Huet, Célestin Nanteuil, Français and Gagniet, comprising 125 wood-engraved vignettes by Porret, of which 16 hors texte. It is one of the rarest of the Romantics. Copy in decorated contemporary chagrin. Slight brown spots. Damage to the upper cover.
