ANOUILH (Jean).
Dear Antoine or failed love. Paris, La Table ronde, 1969. In-12, red grosgrain morocco, jansenist, smooth spine with gilt title, mauve nubuck lining and endpapers, gilt head on witnesses, cover and spine, case (Claude Nicot). First edition of this comedy created at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in October 1969. One of 60 copies on hollande, the only large paper edition after 17 japon. Copy enriched with a signed letter from the author: to Mr and Mrs Pastorino. With the sympathy of Jean Anouilh, and an autograph letter from the latter (one and a half page in-4): Sir, Here is a little note, very annoying for me. You may have noticed that there is not much talk about me in the newspapers, I decided one day, wisely, to leave this to others. I don't make, as much as possible (sometimes I get stuck like the others) any statement before or after my plays. All the more so before my first film [...]. That is to say that I do not know and do not want to answer you. [...] Forgive my frankness and my lack of complacency in helping you do your job. In addition, it bears the autograph signatures of each of the twelve actors in the play, as well as that of the set designer on two endpapers. The binding is signed by Claude Nicot, one of the actors of the play. Slight scratches to the binding.
