Port-Royal] documentary file. Important set containing autograph manuscripts and a documentary file, collected by Jean Meyer during rehearsals: - MONTHERLANT (Henry de): 18 documents: signed autograph letters, notes, a drawing (stage plan), fragments of autograph documents, two typed notes, one of which is signed, a typed letter, 3 envelopes all addressed to Jean Meyer. The letters deal with changes to be made to the play, cuts to be made, advice on staging etc. - DUCAUX (Annie): 2 autograph letters signed and one autograph card signed, Couthures-sur-Garonne, Paris and Champeaux, 20 July 55, 17 November 65 and (n.d.), 4 pages. Letter praising the play, the work accomplished as a director and thanks. - DEBUCOURT (Jean): one autograph letter signed and one autograph postcard signed (s.l.n.d.), 4 pages. Long letter in which he thanks his addressee "Without you the play would never have had this success" and thanks. - DESCAVES (Pierre): two autograph letters signed, Paris, December 34, 1954 and July 21, 1955. 3 pages. On December 24, he announces "I have just signed a credit note of 300.00 frs to your account for the staging of Port-Royal (...)", on July 21 "This note to say that I have arranged business with the Quai d'O. for the Grand Dernière Port-Royal (February, March, May 1956(...)". She has "(...) seen nothing of what is happening on the stage (...) what is important is that the tickets for Port-Royal are being snapped up (...)". - ROLLAN (Henri): an autograph letter signed, December 6th, 1 page. He wishes him a "great evening". - 4 photographs of the play, 2 newspaper articles written by Henry de Montherlant, one of which bears an autograph letter to Jean Meyer; an invitation card for the first performance of the play on February 9, 1954 and the program.
