FRESNAY (Pierre).
Je suis comédien. Important set concerning Pierre Fresnay's work, consisting of three files: - The first consists of an autograph manuscript of "Je suis comédien" (s.l.n.d.) 29 1/2 pages, in-4. The manuscript is accompanied by a typed letter signed to Albert Dubeux, Neuilly-sur-Seine, June 10, 1954. 1 p. in-4. Envelope enclosed (P. Fresnay proposes to modify the order of the chapters imposed by Albert Dubeux). - The second file consists of the typescript of "Je suis comédien" with numerous corrections and erasures in pencil and pen. (s.l.n.d.). 86 pages in-4 numbered from 1 to 84 in blue pen (p.84 in double). Stamp present on each page "Éditions du Conquistador- 32 rue Fabert - Paris VIIè". The last folder contains the corrected proofs, 126 pages in-8, plus 15 pages (in duplicate) of the "Letter from Bernard Gavoty". Some corrections and strikethroughs in ballpoint pen. Very interesting file of the only study left by Pierre Fresnay on the theatre and on his profession as an actor. This study takes the form of a dialogue between Albert Dubeux and Pierre Fresnay. It appears that Pierre Fresnay's first version has been completely reworked, probably by Albert Dubeux. The different chapters illustrate the successive stages of the actor's career. The chapter "Paradoxes" present in the manuscript has completely disappeared from the final version. This work was published in 1954 by Éditions du Conquistador.
