SARTRE (Jean-Paul).
La Putain respectueuse. Paris, Les Éditions Nagel, 1946. In-12, paperback. First edition. Copy with mention of 9th edition on the back cover. Signed letter from Sartre: To Mr. Robichon, in memory of the Pasteur high school, very cordial homage from Jean-Paul Sartre. Jacques Robichon (1920-2007), a journalist for Paris Presse, the Figaro littéraire, etc., was Sartre's student at the Pasteur high school in Neuilly. In 1950 and 1951, he criticized the novelist and the man of the theatre in two scathing articles: Libérons le roman français de M. Sartre, and Dieu, le diable et M. Sartre (cf. Wilcocks, Jean-Paul Sartre: A Bibliography of International Criticism, 1975, pp. 101 and 225). Attached is an original photograph, stamped by the photographer W. Bonhmann in Berlin, depicting the author and Robichon at Sartre's conference on Les Mouches in Berlin in February 1948, as indicated in a handwritten note on the verso and at the end of the volume. Small crack at top of spine.
