Miguet) Correction: second edition published 3 weeks after the original edition, illustrated by Michel Ciry, of this play composed during the Occupation and premiered in February 1942 at the Comédie-Française: it was with La Reine morte that Montherlant, who until then had been considered a novelist, made his name on the French stage. One of 36 copies on vellum pur fil, this one of the 6 hors commerce. Signed letter from the author: to Claude Gallimard, this book to which I am grateful for having brought us closer to each other, amicably, 15 December 1942, Montherlant.
