Joseph - Comedy in 4 acts. Interesting set of autograph manuscripts and documents, black cardboard folder and case, silver author and title. - Autograph and typescript of the play Joseph, comedy in four acts and a prologue (s.l.), dated 1935. Approximately 80 pages 5 half pages and 1/3 pages autograph in-folio format and approximately 16 pages, 5 half pages and 1/3 page typewritten in-folio. Presence of a sending in blue ink (posterior to the writing of the play) on the folder bearing the title of the play "For Michelle [de Kapp-Herr] In memory of so many memories, this manuscript which is under my hands at the most tragic moments of my life, in September '38, in May '40, at the end of a leave... - with my most sincere affection". This manuscript is rich in corrections, additions, erasures, it is organized by acts, then by tables, at the very end we find a folder "Drafts" composed of various pages from the different acts, title pages etc. "By materializing on the stage the nightmares of a feverish child and by making these imaginary beings discuss with real characters, Jean Davray announced (...) some of the processes that Adamov or Ionesco will use" (Boisdeffre, Une histoire vivante de la littérature d'aujourd'hui, p. 761). - A file entitled "This decree is to be read by the Permanent Secretary Michelle [de Kapp-Herr] with a capital M". Amazing and amusing file comprising an autograph letter signed April 22, 1945 on the back of an envelope (Hotel Claridge Paris - Note de semaine), an autograph "decree" signed, written inside the cardboard folder, folio format. On the back of the decree, Jean Davray has tried to reproduce the handwriting of Louis XVI. Text of the decree: "Year 1, Day 1 I, Jean Davray, 1st President of the Club with a big C nominate by presidential decree - Vice President : Jean Bassan, Treasurer: Anita (...) And crazy of the Club: the Colette (...)", in his letter of April 22, he writes a "letter of the President of the Club to the perpetual secretary." in which he hands over all his powers in the Constituent and declares "to have deserved a sweet retirement in my city of Cannes (...)". - The magazine France Illustration - theatrical and literary supplement n°82 of May 12, 1951, containing the text of the play "Dominique et Dominique" by Jean Davray with the following letter on the title page: "For Michelle [de Kapp-Herr], responsible n°I for the courage the author had to perform this play - friendships friendships Jean Davray.
