Le Blanc et Le Noir - Comedy in 4 acts. Autograph manuscript signed, (s.l.) "begun July 7 and finished July 9 at 1:35 a.m.". 143 folio pages. The manuscript is presented in a half coral morocco folder, spine gilt, author and title gilt (headpieces and nerves rubbed). Important complete working manuscript, abundantly corrected (additions, deletions) especially in the first act. Each act is preserved in a folder titled in the author's hand (on the back of the first folder there are additions in red pencil). The manuscript is written in black, sepia, purple ink and blue pencil. It consists of 9 folio pages located between Act I and II. Act I is particularly elaborate. The pages are written on the front and back, richly annotated, some are even made up of fragments of other pages. This comedy was created on November 9, 1922 at the Théâtre des Variétés by Raimu, Jeanne Marnac, Miss Campton and André Lefaure and was adapted in 1931 by Sacha Guitry in collaboration with Robert Florey and Marc Allégret. It features a bourgeois socialite without a conscience who arranges a child exchange.
