MIRBEAU (Octave).
Les Amants. Autograph manuscript, (s.l.n.d.). 12 pages in-4 and in-8, mounted on tabs and bound in a volume in-4, red morocco, spine ribbed, title and author gilt, framed with gilt filets (Marius Michel). The manuscript is written in black ink, without margins, the pages are numbered at the top left. Complete manuscript, most probably one of the author's first drafts in view of the erasures and numerous variations from the edition of Farces et Moralités (1904). It was first performed at the Grand-Guignol theatre on 20 December 1894 and its theme remains surprisingly modern. Les Amants is a caricature of the conventions of the language of love. Octave Mirbeau library sale (I, 1919, n°834), former collections Sacha Guitry, Daniel Sicklès and bâtonnier J-C. D. (2018, n°96).
