HARAUCOURT (Edmond).
Don Juan. Autograph manuscript signed, (s.l.n.d.). 45 pages and 5 half-pages, various sizes (in-8, in-4 and in-folio), these mounted on tabs in one volume, hardback cover preserved. Bound in Bradel style, green half-percaline, spine decorated with gilt fillets and fleuron, havana title page (period binding). A fascinating working manuscript, complete, most certainly the first draft, bearing countless erasures, corrections and additions (black and red ink and pencil). Some pages are written on both sides. Beautiful pencil drawing of Don Juan on the outer cover of the preserved book. This play in verse, completed in 1892, was first performed at the Odéon, on March 8, 1898, under the title Don Juan de Marana. Beautiful dedication by the author on the title page: "To my friend Lucien Guitry, in memory of his friend who had a lot of pain, I offer this package of rags. Edmond Haraucourt. Saturday 19 November 1892".
