A personal copy of Xavier Veyrat, who compiled it himself, full of notes in his own hand and containing various documents such as autographs from his collaborators. It also contains the obituary of his friend Angel, who died in 1861. Xavier Veyrat (1807-1876), French playwright, wrote alone or in collaboration with Ferdinand de Villeneuve (1801-1858), Angel (1813-1861), Saint-Yves (1808-1871), Alzay (1803-1870) or Victor Masselin (1806-1855), a large number of comedies, vaudevilles and dramas which were successfully performed from 1834 to 1847 on the most important Parisian stages of the time: the Gymnase des enfants, the Folies-Dramatiques theatre, the Porte-Saint-Antoine theatre, the La Renaissance theatre, etc. Forgotten after the 1848 revolution, he left Paris and died far from his family (cf. Les Annales du Théâtre et de la musique, 1877, pp. 891-892). One of the pieces, Le Mariage d'orgueil, composed by Dennery and Saint-Yves, contains at the end this signed letter: to my friend and collaborator Xavier. Light brown spots, rubbing to the binding.
