Collection of 10 plays in one volume in-8, glazed havana calf, double gilt fillet and cold-stamped roulette, ornamented spine, black title-piece, double fillet inside, gilt edges (Binding mid 19th century).
Important collection of 10 comedies in verse, most of them in first edition, by Jean-François Collin d'Harleville (1755-1804), playwright and poet elected to the academic chair in 1803. It includes his masterpiece, Le Vieux célibataire.

2) L'Optimiste, ou L'homme content de tout. Paris, Prault, 1788.
3) Les Châteaux en Espagne. Paris, Moutard, Desenne, 1790. Envoi on the title: given to M. Pons avocat, by the author his friend.
4) Monsieur de Crac dans son petit castel ou Les Gascons. Paris, Barba, Year Fourth, 1796.
5) Le Vieux célibataire. Paris, Maradan, Second year of the Republic [1793]. Envoi sur le titre: Offert au citoyen Pons de Verdun, par l'auteur.
6) Rose et Picard, ou suite de l'Optimiste. Paris, Prault, Year III of the French Republic [1794]. Sent on the false title: Offered to the citizen Pons de Verdun, by the author his old friend.
7) Les Artistes. Paris, De l'Imprimerie de David-Monier, sold at Villeflose, 1797. Portrait of M. Andrieux, engraved by Frémy. Envoi on the false title: Offert à la classe de littérature et beaux-arts, par l'auteur.

4 of the pieces are sent by the author, 3 of which are addressed to his friend Pons de Verdun (1759-1844), lawyer and deputy to the National Convention, author of numerous pieces for the Almanach des muses and of a famous epigram entitled Le Bibliomane.
Angular restoration to two leaves. A few light freckles. Spine lightened, halos on the boards.
