PATHELIN.
La Farce de maistre Pierre Pathelin, avec son testament à quatre personnages. Paris, Durand, 1762. In-8, bradel blue paper with glue, blue title on the spine, untrimmed, contemporary cover (Modern binding). An interesting copy, abundantly annotated by Jean-Pierre Agnès Parison (1771-1855), a man of letters born in Nantes, a learned bibliophile and a friend of the great bibliographers of his time, in particular Van Praet, Barbier, Chardon de La Rochette, and above all Brunet for whom he revised - a colossal task! - The numerous corrections and notes in this volume lead us to believe that Parison was preparing a new edition. In any case, these corrections are mainly aimed at restoring the 15th century spelling. On the back cover, a note in his hand indicates that the text was collated from an earlier edition, which was given in 1490 in Paris by Germain Bincaut (Bechtel, P-56). Only the text of the Farce has been corrected, the Testament has not. A copy bound in booklet. It appears in the sale catalogue of Parison's books (1856, n°1170, then paperback).
