This example stands out both for its size and for the quality of its workmanship. The large combs, reserved for men's hair, usually have a rounded shape to fit the wearer's head. These ornaments were passed down from generation to generation. See Mélandri and Revolon, 2014, p. 106, cat. 43 for a comparable example donated by Désiré Charnay to the Musée de l'Homme and now kept at the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac (inv. 71.1883.66.15).
