Sklavos' work is mainly based on direct carving, a technique by which he attacks stone or marble, and whose struggle was to prove fatal to him in 1967 when he was crushed to death under a colossal block he was sculpting for a May Salon. The original model of our work was carved in stone using this technique and the bronze work we are presenting is taken directly from it. The title is a tribute to the artist's Hellenistic origins and the influence of Greek art in his vision of abstraction and sculpture.
