CATALOGUE of printed and manuscript books,... - Lot 111 - Giquello
CATALOGUE of printed and manuscript books, by the Count of Pont-de-Vesle. Paris, Le Clerc, 1774. In-8, marbled brown basane, decorated spine, red coins, speckled edges (Modern binding). Original edition. Catalogue of the prestigious library of Antoine Fériol, count of Pont-de-Veyle (1697-1774), nephew of Madame de Tencin and friend of Madame Du Deffand whose salon he frequented. The first part, forming an almost universal collection of plays, was bought as a whole by the Duke of Orléans, who presented it to his wife, Madame de Montesson. A copy of René-Charles Guilbert de Pixérécourt (1773-1844), a famous bibliophile and playwright who was notably the director of the Opéra-comique from 1824 to 1827, is bound again.
