Ancient annotations in pencil. 405 x 502 mm. Nice map showing the city and castle of Batavia (Jakarta) on the island of Java, published by Covens & Mortier. The plan is based on the one by Clement de Jonghe published in 1650. The title is inscribed in a banner next to the Dutch lion. Includes a cross-reference table A-R and 1-21. Decorated at the bottom, below the scale, with a wide view of the town and many boats in the harbour. Handwritten pen-and-ink translation of the French title and pen-and-ink annotations in the cross-reference table.
