PILON (Edmond) (1874-1945)
- Mademoiselle de la Maisonfort. Autograph manuscript addressed to René Philipon, complete, entitled "Mademoiselle de la Maisonfort", Paris, circa 1922. 584 pp. in-8, 12 pp. in-4. Fort in-8, full olive morocco, spine ribbed and decorated in the grotesque (past), dishes richly decorated with multiple frames of gilded fillets, fleurons and irons in the grotesque, interior lace, brick moire counterflats and endpapers, gilded edges, leaves mounted on tabs (Yseux sr [successor] of Simier Thierry). Exlibris of Count René Philipon (1870-1936) engraved by J. De Andrada in 1917, bearing the Greek motto Philos Pontou (Lover of the sea, pun: Philos Pontos and Philipon). Interesting manuscript preceded by a letter addressed to Count René Philipon (1870-1936) in which he indicates to send him "...the complete manuscript of Mademoiselle de la Maisonfort (...)", then 4 printed pages (false title, title and epigraph) with ink corrections and printing indications, including one page bearing the stamp "Plon-Nourri et Cie". This manuscript is strongly corrected and annotated. At the end are the pages of explanatory notes stuck on leaflets. This work by Edmond Pilon has as its setting the performances of Esther by the girls of Saint-Cyr and is particularly attached, as the title indicates, to Mademoiselle de Maisonfort.
