BÉRAUD (Henri) (1885-1958) - L'Héritage des Symbolistes.
Signed autograph manuscript entitled "The Legacy of the Symbolists" (s.l.n.d. [1905]). 44 pp. in-8 (p26 cut out). In-8 oblong, half fawn striped basane, leaves mounted on tabs. On the first plate the name, the title, the publication in gilded letters, double gilded net. Interesting manuscript, very probably the first draft of his article l'Héritage des symbolistes published in the magazine La Houle*, n°9, Lyon, 1905. This text was written following one of the "soirées de La Houle" whose president was the painter Jacques Martin. Our manuscript is composed of two distinct parts, the first rather short one in violet ink introducing the article written in black ink. The first three pages in violet ink contain the title, then an autograph signed consignment, dated "December 1905", addressed to a lady, and finally the epigraph (Nietzsche). The next 41 pages correspond to the original manuscript (black ink). Working text, with numerous corrections, additions (black and purple ink), some drawings in the margins (p7 and p10), indications in blue pencil for printing. This manuscript contains variants compared to the article published in La Houle: some quotations and two paragraphs are missing, some terms are different. *La Houle, Revue indépendante d'Art, de Littérature et de Combat. This article was published in volume at the Librairie E. Sansot in 1906.
