This doll is a representation of Sipikine, the spirit of the Warrior. This Kachina originally appeared among the Zuni under the name Salimopia before being incorporated by the Hopi into their own pantheon.
Sipikine dancers perform at initiation ceremonies for young Hopi and at the Shalako ceremony.
The "Pope of Surrealism", André Breton, a great lover and collector of Kachina, owned a white mask depicting this spirit.
