" Among the Chocó people, the Emberà are the most numerous. In this matriarchal society, "one personality has a capital role: he is the jaiband, the shaman, the sorcerer, the medicine man. (...) His most sacred tools are his carved wooden sticks (...) of the rosewood type, very dense and of a beautiful colour ranging from red-brown to black. The sticks almost always end with a human figure about 10 to 20 cm high, treated in a rather naturalistic way.
