Black morocco, gilt Du Seuil decoration, royal coat of arms in the centre of the covers, spine ribbed and gilt, gilt edges Provenance: traces of ink snack on the last pages Small gallery of worms in the upper margin of the pages without damage to the text becoming more important between ff. 13 and 27. Worn tail cap but slice presents This catalogue of the King's Cabinet, here in its original edition of 1727, is a great rarity. Until now the market has only known the copy of the second edition of 1743 from the former Jean Furstemberg-Otto Schäfer collection (Cat. IV, no. 91), which was later passed on to the collection of Jacques Bemberg (Cat. I, no. 60). Of this 1727 edition, BnF presents only one copy bound in a modern bradel. References: Bernard (A.), Histoire de l'imprimerie du Louvre, pp. 168 and 180 -- Millard, I, 46 knows only the 1743 edition.
