MARRA MAMBA TIGER'S - EYE END CUT Paleoproterozoic Mt... - Lot 111 - Giquello
MARRA MAMBA TIGER'S - EYE END CUT Paleoproterozoic Mt Brockman Station, Western Australia The incredible Marra Mamba tiger eye is found only in one small area, Western Australia, and represents one of the finest and rarest of the world's minerals. Tiger eye is an ancient rock, formed from sediments laid down at the bottom of a shallow sea over two and a half billion years ago when the early Earth's atmosphere had little or no oxygen. It was created by a singular combination of geological conditions in a part of the Hamersley Ranges in North-West Australia. The incredible combination of red Jaspilite host rock, intermixed with bands of metallic black Hematite, brassy splashes of Iron Pyrite, pools of golden Tiger Eye, and satiny streaks of mixed Riebeckite (blue) and Goethite (yellow) dazzle the eye. One of the most beautiful and desirable forms of Tiger Eye there is, it usually appears in incredible, abstract patterns, mixing the various components. The present specimen displays a desirable amount of that character. With alternating bands of green Riebeckite and yellow Goethite, red jasper with excellent sections of bright gold chatoyant banding running down the middle along with bright flashes of chatoyant blue as well. A 3-demensional specimen with highly polished face, displaying some minor superficial cracks, rough back and edges which helps show the contrasting natural state of this mineral measuring 16 ½ x 10 ¼ x 2 ¾ inches (42 x 26 x 7 cm).
