MICHAUX Henri.
Poetry for power. Paris, René Drouin, 1949. In-folio, in sheets, illustrated cover, teak wood cover-sleeve, first plate titled, illustrated and covered with galoshes nails, under titled sleeve, and case. Original edition decorated with a frontispiece by the author and lithographs by Michel Tapié. Edition announced at 46 copies, many did not see the light of day. This one out of trade, one of the very first signed at the justification of the print run by Michel Tapié, Aline Gagnaire, René Drouin, who participated in the elaboration of the work. One of the very rare copies made in 1944 with the teak wood cover-sleeve, covered with galoshes nails. The truly cursed manufacture of this cover was interrupted and only 5 or 6 copies of the first issue were made. Michel Tapié explains this in Commentary on an Exorcism. Excerpt from Cahiers de la Pleiade, 1950. Autograph signed: "To René Bertelé may our friendship exorcise the nails. Henri Michaux." A few freckles. The first cover of the binding has been damaged, split and restored. Provenance: Sale Collection René Bertelé. Paris Drouot November 28th 1997 File established by Claude Oterelo.
