Trip to Syria and Egypt, during the years 1783, 1784 & 1785. Paris, Volland, Desenne, 1787. 2 volumes in-8, speckled basane, smooth spine decorated, black title and tomaison pieces, edges speckled with red (contemporary binding). Original edition of this esteemed relationship, one of the best on Syria and Egypt. It is decorated with 2 folding maps of these regions, a plan and 2 copper engraved plates representing the ruins of Balbek and those of the city of Palmyra. Handwritten ex-libris of the period repeated (sometimes cut): Pouponne Goyon. Engraved ex-libris from the P. B. A. Simonnet library. Traces left by the fat of the skin on the first and last leaves, some slight reddening and stains. Minimal tearing with no gaps in the maps. Binding rubbed in places, upper covers flattened.
