New Pleasure Theory, with reflections on the origin of pleasure, by Mr. Kaestner. S.l.n., 1767. In-12, marbled calf, spine decorated, red title coin, red edges (contemporary binding). Wheeler Gift, no. 420. Original edition, decorated with a folding plate. Metaphysical treatise by Johann Georg Sulzer (1720-1779), a German scientist who professed mathematics and was a member of the Berlin Academy of Sciences. One of the first traces of the physiological action of galvanism on living beings can be found on p. 155 (note *), Sulzer describing here a phenomenon of taste chemistry produced on the tongue by the weak electric current resulting from the junction of two different metals.
