Avignon, Jacques Garrigan, 1758. n-8, marbled fawn basane, double gilt fillet, decorated smooth spine, red title coin, red edges (contemporary binding). Eitner, vol. VIII, p. 279. - Fétis, vol. VII, p. 293 (very rare). Original edition, dedicated to the Royal Society of Sciences of Montpellier whose coat of arms is engraved on a plate opposite the dedication. Excellent thesis on curative music and its effects on the human body, one of the first works on "music therapy", work of Joseph-Louis Roger, a doctor born in Strasbourg and died in Avignon in 1761. The first significant work on music and medicine (Garrison-Morton). Small epiderminations and missing upper headdress.
