S.l.n.d. [c. 1611]. Booklet in-8 of 23 pages, half vellum, smooth spine, red long title-piece (19th century binding). A very rare piece, one of the most important contemporary testimonies of the Ravaillac affair. Jacqueline de Voyer, known as la d'Escoman, chambermaid of the Marquise de Verneuil, claimed that Ravaillac had not acted alone and that the assassination of Henri IV had been the fruit of a conspiracy involving various personalities of the royal entourage, in particular his mistress and the Duke d'Épernon: as the Marquise addressed Father Gontier's sermon to Sainct Jean [...]....], went straight up to the window where Monsieur d'Espernon was staying [...] & then concluded the death of the King [...], at which point they uttered such & such abominable remarks that I will keep them quiet for fear of making the paper blush. Stain on the first page.
