PICCOLOMINI (Enea Silvio).
History of morals and depraved religion of the aborigines in Bohemia. Paris, Vincent Sertenas, 1562. In-8, half calf with wove corners, spine decorated (Modern binding in the old style). First French edition, very rare, translated by Jean Poldo d'Albenas (1512-1563), historian and lawyer from Nîmes. Relation of the trip made in 1451 to Bohemia by the humanist Enea Silvio Piccolomini (1405-1464), future Pope Pius II, as ambassador of Emperor Frederick III of Habsburg. The author, who went to meet the Taborites (a group of radical Hussites who had taken refuge in Tabor), a sectarian people who denied the doctrinal authority of the Catholic Church, mainly describes the customs of this community which he tried to convert.
