PERRIN (Jean-Paul).
History of the Waldensians. Divided into three parts. Geneva, For Pierre & Jacques Chouet, ?1619. - History of the Albigensian Christians. Geneva, For Matthieu Berjon, 1618. Set of 2 parts in one volume in-12, granite calf, decorated spine, speckled edges (contemporary binding). Caillet, n°8537. One of the best historical works on the Waldensians and Albigensians, persecuted by Pope Innocent III, written by Jean-Paul Perrin, French Protestant historian and minister born in Lyon in 1580. The second and third parts, in the original edition, are gathered together in one, in separate pagination, under the title Histoire des Chrestiens Albigeois à l'adresse de Genève, Berjon, 1618; they include the doctrine and discipline of the Waldensians and Albigensians, and the treatise on the Antichrist. The first part is a reprint, its title rejuvenated by one year. The copy seems to have belonged to a Protestant authority of the seventeenth century as suggested by the handwritten ex-libris on the title: Ex-libris F.S. Mestrault prioris... ex domo Templosiona [house of the Temple?]. A few freckles, outer margin of the title consolidated. Slit in one bit and wormhole in another.
