Medicus veri amator ad Apollineae artis alumnos. Moscow, Typis Universitatis Caesareae, 1764. In-8, tiger calf, cold fillet, spine decorated with gold fillets, red edges (contemporary binding). Blake, p. 90. - Waller, no. 5664. Original edition, printed on the presses of the University of Moscow and dedicated to Empress Catherine II of Russia. Interesting treatise on venoms, contagions and epidemics. Nicolas-Gabriel Le Clerc, a doctor from Franche-Comté born in 1726 and died in 1798, served in the royal army, was attached to the service of Count Razoumovski, hetman of the Cossacks, and practised medicine for several years in Russia. He was also appointed inspector of St. Paul's Hospital in Moscow. His book contains several medical observations in Latin, with the exception of three of them: History of Epidemic Diseases in the Ukraine in 1760, Moses to Prevent Contagion & Remedy, and Utilities of the Torment of Criminals.
