Conquests of the French in Egypt. Paris, Charles Pougens, Malherbe, An VII [1798-1799]. In-8, havana half calf with small green vellum corners, spine smooth and decorated (contemporary binding). Original edition, decorated with a large and nice copperplate engraved map with coloured outlines (physical and political map of Egypt, drawn by Chanlaire and Mentelle). The work is divided into three parts completed by copious notes, including several extracts from Bonaparte's papers: a physical description of Egypt, the political state of the country, and an account of the work of the army of the East from its departure from Toulon until the 1st Vendémiaire of the year VII. Notebook S yellowed, small reinforcement in one of the folds of the map. Armoured ex-libris (scratched) from the 19th century on a guard. Small inscription (quotation) in purple ink on the back of the forgery, with discharge in the white of the title. Scratches on the second plate and rubbing on the caps.
