An Introduction containing the Rules of Algebraic Calculus is attached. Paris, Jean Boudot, Jacque Quillau, 1705. In-4, brown calf, decorated spine, red title coin, speckled edges (contemporary binding). Very rare first edition of this incunabulum of analytical geometry, introducing to infinitesimal calculus. Printed at the expense of a friend of the author, it is decorated with 6 folding plates. Guisnée was a disciple of Varignon, who had him admitted in 1702 to the Académie des Sciences. Blunt corners, upper headdress levelled.
