FOURIER (Jean-Baptiste Joseph).
- [FRANCOEUR (L. Benjamin)]. "Analytical Heat Theory; by M. Fourier". In: Bulletin des sciences, by the Société philomathique de Paris, 1822, pp. 1-3. In-4, paperback, untrimmed, modern cover. Interesting notice concerning Fourier's theory. It was published the same year as the major book of this illustrious mathematician. It was in 1807 that Fourier presented his first work on heat to the Academy of Sciences: this subject, both new and difficult, was treated in depth, using the procedures of integral calculus with partial differences. ... It is this work that is now being made public through printing. ...] We believe it is useful to give here the statement of several propositions which are of interest to general physics, and which the author has deduced from his theory. Among the other texts contained in this volume, let us mention 4 articles and dissertations related to the works of Cauchy and Poisson on series functions and integrals: On the development of series functions and on the integration of differential equations (pp. 49-54) and Memoir on definite integrals (pp. 161-174) [for Cauchy], and Remarks on the integrals of the equations (pp. 81-85) and Memoir on definite integrals (pp. 134-139) [for Poisson].
