Opera accuratissime castigata. Venice, Lucantonio Giunta, 1536-1537. 3 parts in a large folio volume, stiff vellum, smooth spine with a young title piece, speckled edges (Binding ca. 1700). Essling, no. 70. Remarkable illustrated edition. Title set in a beautiful architectural frame and 113 very beautiful woods, some of them in large format, in the text, including 10 for the Eglogues, 23 for the Georgics, 70 for the Aeneid and 10 for the Opuscules. Manuscript ex-libris: Presbiter Petrus Gauterius and Pietro Gautiero della Bollena 1703 (probably Bollène, commune of Vaucluse). Wet stamp on the title, undetermined. Incomplete of folios Mm4-5 and 3 other folios in the third part. Wet seal on the title which is partly lined, worm gallery touching the first and last leaves. Open top hinge with visible seams and cardboard.
