VÉSALE (André).
[KNOCKING (Hendrick)] Anatomia Viri in hoc Genere Principale. Amsterdam, Jean Jansson, 1617 [at colophon]: Cologne, Typis Stephani Hemmerden, 1617. In-folio, semi-flexible brown basane, set of cold-framed fillets in frame, spine similarly decorated, beige title-piece, red edges (Dutch binding, early 18th century). Cushing, Vesalius, pp. 135-136, VI.D.-12. - Krivatsy, n°12321. Title-frontispiece, portrait of Vesalius at the age of 28 and 40 anatomical figures (including a double-page plate showing Adam and Eve), all engraved in intaglio. Heinrich Botter, physicist and professor at the University of Cologne, had published a new edition of the Epitome of Vesalius in 1600-1601. The present edition is a reprint, or rather a reissue, of the latter, the date in colophon (1601) having been changed in pen in 1617, probably by the publisher himself. From the Daniel Molliere Library (ex-libris). Some stains and stains, especially on the title, small angular repair to some engravings, part of the skull is missing at the fold of the double plate.
